Our office lobbies are home to several digital signs that run all year long during business hours. For these signs, I have created a large library of short videos that run on loop to engage with the community that enters our offices.
GOAL
To communicate and engage with the residents of our community, potential employees, and other agencies.
PROJECT
I aimed to keep these videos as short as possible - mainly 15-60 seconds. Sometimes our audience will be in the lobby for only a short while so it's important to get their attention and convey information as quickly as possible.
All of these videos are created in-house by me, utilizing motion graphics, illustrations, stock footage, and our own footage and photographs.
Because the signs are in a public location within earshot of employees, all the videos contain no audio. Auditory noise can be overwhelming in a public setting and it's important to maintain a professional atmosphere.
TYPES OF VIDEOS
The videos range in content and feature the following:
- General branding videos (who we are, what we do)
- Holiday and season themes (fall, Halloween, MLK Jr. Day, Veterans Day, etc.)
- Commemorative days (Elder Abuse Awareness, Child Abuse Awareness, etc.)
- Public Service Announcements
The videos shown are changed and updated regularly throughout the year depending on the season and events occurring.
SOFTWARE
The digital signs are large televisions equipped with BrightSign media players. They are connected to the network which allows me to remotely upload videos and update the displays from any internet browser.
For the lobbies that aren't in my building, BrightSign also offers "remote snapshots" from all signs to make sure they are displaying properly.
